There are two kinds of registration number – first, marketed by and second, manufactured by – which the applicant must take cognizance of. Neetha said,
“Those who are sourcing materials from someone else and selling them under their brand need to apply for a ‘Marketed by’ FSSAI number. Those who are preparing food from scratch and selling need to apply for a ‘Manufactured by’ FSSAI number,” Neetha added on, “Depending on the number of years, you want to opt for the registration (can be from 1-5 years), the fees for the same including the government fee and department charges range from Rs. 1,500-5,000 approximately.”
