Agriculture is India’s principal source of revenue, with 118.7 million farmers accounting for more than half of the country’s population. However, in India, the employment of technology in the agricultural sector has been limited.

As a result, India’s agriculture industry provides only 17-18% of the country’s GDP.

However, India has seen an increase in the number of agritech businesses in recent years, which are not only making technology more accessible to farmers but also helping them improve their lives.

1. Ninjacart

Ninjacart began as a B2C hyperlocal food delivery service in June 2015, founded by Thirukumaran Nagarajan, Kartheeswaran K K, Ashutosh Vikram, Sharath Loganathan, and Vasudevan Chinnathambi.

It was developed into a B2B agritech startup in order to solve the farmers’ and retailers’ fresh agricultural produce supply chain problems.

Ninjacart has received a total of $164.2 million in funding from Tiger Global Management, Accel, Qualcomm Ventures, and Steadview Capital.

2. BOHECO

BOHECO, or Bombay Hemp Company, is India’s first industrial hemp research startup, with three verticals: influencing policy, research, and commercializing hemp.

The company cultivates hemp and researches its medical characteristics for the treatment of a variety of ailments.

They export to 15 nations throughout the world, including Canada, Germany, and Italy, among others. BOHECO presently earns between Rs.30 and Rs.35 lakhs every month.

The company wants to provide farmers with a range of hemp seeds in order to jumpstart more widespread commercialized hemp growing and enhance farmers’ livelihoods.

3. WayCool

WayCool is a B2B agritech platform founded by Karthik Jayaraman and Sanjay Dasari in July 2015 that uses technology to handle the end-to-end agriculture supply chain, from farming inputs to last-mile distribution, allowing farmers to sell their products through numerous distribution channels.

WayCool has raised $60.8 million to date.

4. Crofarm

Crofarm is a supply chain solution that supports farmers while also providing the best possible service to businesses and customers.

Crofarm buys fresh produce from farmers and delivers it to both brick-and-mortar and internet merchants.

The company offers a variety of apps based on one’s position in the supply chain, such as consumer, reseller, transportation, and so on.

Crofarm’s goal is to boost farmers’ incomes by leveraging technology and innovation to improve their supply chain.

5. AgroStar

AgroStar, founded in 2013 by brothers Shardul and Sitanshu Sheth, is an online marketplace for farmers to buy agricultural inputs.

Farmers can also benefit from this agritech startup’s real-time expert advice on how to manage their crops and increase productivity. AgroStar has received $42 million in funding.

6. Gold Farm

Gold Farm is an AgriTech startup in India that offers farmers a mobile app-based farm-equipment booking system.

Additionally, the company provides solar water pumps to farmers in various locations in India. By 2022, Gold Agriculture hopes to treble the farm income of a million Indian farmers.

Gold Farm is one of the top AgriTech Startups in India since it focuses on the growth and sustainability of farmers through effective ecosystems created with the use of technology.

7. DeHaat

DeHaat was founded in 2012 by Shashank Kumar and Amrendra Singh to provide agricultural services such as economical agricultural inputs such as seeds and fertilizers, individualized guidance, soil testing, weather updates, microfinance, and insurance.

DeHaat has raised $19.3 million to assist farmers in India.
