TAD NewsDesk, Bangalore: In an initiative by L&T Construction Water & Effluent Treatment IC for the Government of Kartanaka, ABB’s end to end solutions will help the local water authority to track, measure and optimize water use in this drought-stricken region of southwest India, as well as pump and distribute clean treated river water to village homes.
The solution includes 635 digital flowmeters and technologies to improve control at pumping stations and reservoirs.
Koppal district contains a population of around one million people. Hence, very often the problem of water shortage becomes an issue. The age old tradition of preserving and conservation of water has been suggested till now which includes preserving ancient wells. But now with the advancement of digitisation, Kushtagi and Yelburga villages will soon benefit from ABB’s digital water management solutions as part of a multi-village clean drinking water scheme.

ABB will be employing AquaMaster 4 elctromagnetic flowmeters, running on battery power which has the following :
- Has an inbuilt tamper-proof datalogging system.
- Facilitates self-diagnostics, and
- Provides for a smart integrated GPRS communication module
- Automated meter reading (AMR) and links to an automatic billing system, providing transparency in consumption data.
ABB’s initiative is in operation in the following cities as well,
- Delhi
- Bangalore
- Surat
- Ranchi
- Kolkata
- Udaipur
- Chennai
- Semi urban and rural areas like Gadag in Karnataka
- Jawai in Rajasthan
This initiative will be a significant achievement for the district to acquire and is a much needed goal.
