TAD NewsDesk, New Delhi: Under the scheme of (PMFBY), the agriculture ministry has been permitted to use drones for the collection of data for remote sensing.
According to an official statement,
“The Ministry of Civil Aviation and Directorate General of Civil Aviation have granted conditional exemption for Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) usage to Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoAFW).”
Under the scheme of PMFBY, it will be permitted to use drones to collect data of agricultural areas of around 100 districts in the country. It has been don for the gram panchayat level yield estimation.
The conditional exemption will be valid for one year from the date of issue of the permission letter or until the operationalisation of the Digital Sky Platform, whichever is earlier, the statement by the civil aviation ministry said.
The statement added that this exemption shall be valid only if all conditions and limitations are strictly adhered to.
Along with the conditional exemption too, the following clearance needed,

- Defence ministry
- Home Ministry
- Indian Air Force and
- Airports Authority of India
