TAD NewsDesk, New Delhi: Farmers in Punjab and Haryana have observed strict action on the occasion of Bharat Bandh. Major highways and other roadways have been blocked. Railway tracks across the country also have seen blockage because of major protest against the Centre agricultural laws.

According to the Samkyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) which is leading the protest, said Bharat Bandh is being observed from 6 am to 6 pm to mark four months of the farmers’ agitation at Delhi’s three borders — Singhu, Ghazipur and Tikri.

Shops remained closed at various places in Punjab and some areas in Haryana also remained calm and peaceful.

Public and Private transport was not allowed to function in the state of Punjab. And in Haryana State Transport Minister Moolchand Sharma said that the state transport services will be suspended in places where it is really needed.

Protesters squatted on railway tracks at several locations, including in Amritsar, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Ferozepur, Ambala, Jind, Jhajjar, Panchkula and some other districts in the two states, leading to disruption of rail traffic.

A woman passenger travelling with her two children said,

“Due to the pandemic, one is going through difficult times. Now, to remain stranded at a railway station for hours with small children is quite difficult. Trains on this route should have been cancelled for today to avoid passenger inconvenience.”

Farmers have been protesting demanding the repealing of the laws but all cries have gone in vain but they are resounding and not giving up. Numerous meetings have happened between the farmers and the government but no resolution has been reached yet.
