TAD NewsDesk, New Delhi: Farmers recently withdrew the agitation of 169 days on the tracks of Amritsar. The suspension of trains put a halt on a lot of activities and caused a lot of losses to the farmers and the traders.
Savinder Singh, a leader of the Kissan Mazdoor Sangarsh Committee which had been spearheading the stir, said they decided to withdraw the rail blockade at Devidaspura on the Amritsar-Delhi route after a meeting of all protesting farmer unions.
He added,
“Farmers were blocking only passenger trains, but the Centre decided to stop goods trains as well which caused huge losses to farmers, traders and industrialists. In the light of current circumstances, farmers have unanimously resolved to end the stir here.”
Railway officials said that since the farmers have put a halt on the protest, the regular movement of the trains will resume soon according to the news agency PTI.
