TAD NewsDesk, Pune: Due to fresh arrival of new winter crops into the market, the vegetable prices have started to fall. Some of the vegetables include onion, garlic, tomatoes and potato which had prices touching the sky till now.
There has been high inflation in the prices of pulses and vegetables due to the destruction of crops. This has been a result of excessive rains this year.
Due to the persisting inflation in edible oils, pulses and onions which constitutes the major food items. India had changed import policies to improve domestic availability with imported commodities to make the process of arrival of vegetables smooth into the market.
In Delhi’s Azadpur wholesale market, vegetables like capsicum had touched ₹100/kg in wholesale in August/September, while cabbage and cauliflower were sold at ₹60/kg and ₹100/kg, respectively, in the wholesale trade.
