TAD News Desk, New Delhi: One lakh tones of onions from buffer stock of the key kitchen staple is being released by the government in view of the skyrocketing price surge of onions in the market as one of the many steps to curb rising prices, said Tomar. Mr Tomar addressed reporters during election rally of November 3 by-polls in Dharampuri town of Indore district.
“The government has already taken cognisance of the issue of rising prices of onions and its one lakh tonnes of buffer stock is being released through NAFED,” Tomar said.
“We had imposed a ban on the export of onion from the country well in time and opened routes for its import,” the minister told.
He further accused Congress of double standards regarding protests by the party over new farm laws.
Tomar said, 2019 election manifesto of Congress clearly stated about the eradication of APMCs, to make trade free of regulations, would encourage inter-state trade, promote contract farming and, end essential commodities act.
Tomar alleged that Congress was unable to bring out agricultural reforms because there was huge pressure from middle-men, now that BJP has introduced the change, congress can’t stomach it.
Minister was rallying for Tulsiram silawat, state water resource minister, who is contesting the by-poll election from Sanver Assembly seat.
