Industrial body CII claims that agriculture reforms will benefit farmers

The focus is also on irrigation along with other aspects of agriculture, said in the statement by CII

TAD NewsDesk, New Delhi: Industrial body CII claimed that agricultural reforms will benefit the farmers by improving market access and also raised income.

ITC chairman Sanjiv Puri said. Puri, who is also chairman of the CII National Council on Agriculture, said
“The reforms will have a transformational impact on the Agri sector by enhancing productivity, modernising infrastructure, enabling aggregation at scale and improving market access.”
The emphasis of the reforms is on the following areas:

  • Introducing risk mitigation measures
  • Reducing post-harvest losses
  • Augmenting market opportunities

Nestle chairman Suresh Narayanan said,

“The reform process will give a boost to the food processing sector and strengthen and scale micro food processing enterprises.”

The statement by CII added that some of the projects have also focused on the coverage of irrigation procedures. These projects aimed at improving water efficiency and creation of apt infrastructure with supply chain management.
Rasna chairman Piruz Khambatta said the enhanced sourcing opportunities will be created closer to production clusters and reengineering the supply chain into a more integrated system. Moreover, DCM Shriram chairman Ajay S Shriram flagged that the private sector initiatives are focused on enhancing sustainability and will enable deeper and long-term engagement between farmers and value chain participants.

CII has mentioned some reforms which could improve the state of agriculture, in their statement they have issued its suggestions widely.
