TAD NewsDesk, Gujarat: Chief Minister Vijay Rupani of Gujarat announced recently that all the 18,000 villages of Gujarat will soon have day time power supply for agricultural purposes.
BJP government has announced the “Kisan Suryoday Yojna” (KSY) for the state and have allocated ₹ 3,500 crore to create the necessary infrastructure for the project.
Mr Rupani said addressed a gathering in the Tilakwada town in Narmada while launching the project for 39 villages of the district.
he said in his address,
“Farmers have been demanding that they be given agricultural power supply during the day, as going to fields in the night to irrigate the crop is dangerous. That is why we have approved this scheme having a budget of ₹ 3,500 crore.”
He added that his government’s target is to provide electricity for agricultural purposes during the day to 4,000 villages by January 20 and to all the 18,000 villages by the end of the year 2022.
According to Mr Rupani, this plan gives the farmers the space to work during the day and rest at night.
Moreover, the Chief Minister claims that unlike the past Congress rule, the BJP-led dispensation in Gujarat is the “farmers’ government”.
On the same occasion, Gujarat Energy Minister Saurabh Patel said that state government will give a subsidy of ₹ 7,500 crores this year by providing cheap electricity for agriculture.
He said,
“Since long, we have not increased the power tariff for farmers. Though the cost is increasing, we have kept the tariff at only ₹ 60 paise per unit.”
Mr Patel added that
“Since long, we have not increased the power tariff for farmers. Though the cost is increasing, we have kept the tariff at only ₹ 60 paise per unit.”
The entire state will benefit from the scheme at the earliest.
