TAD NewsDesk, New Delhi: Amidst inconclusive talks, farmers have pledged to continue and intensify protest on Delhi borders. The agitating farmers have demanded a guaranteed law of MSP for 26 crops.
On December 9 the farmers rejected a written proposal and the assurance provided by the government on no effect upon the MSP.
Bhartiya Kisan Union in support has asked the farmers to increase their force at Delhi borders and to also change their mobile phone sim cards from Jio to other networks.
Haryana BKU president Gurnam Singh Charuni said that
“All the farmer union leaders have rejected Centre’s offer for amendments in the laws and we now want the government to take back these laws and also enact a law to ensure the guarantee of procurement for all 26 crops on minimum support price”.
He also added that no more discussions are scheduled with the government yet and they are waiting for the government to accept the demands.
Free toll pass has been allowed today by the farmers amidst protests. The call to make all toll plazas free for a day was given by the farmer unions to intensify their agitation against the Centre’s three farm laws after several rounds of talks with the government remained inconclusive.
An official at the Karnal toll plaza said,
“Exactly at midnight, protesters reached the toll plazas and asked officials to allow the movement of all vehicles without charging any toll. They removed the barricades.”
The protesters said that it will continue for 24 hours. One of the leaders, Sewa Singh Arya said,
“We have made toll plazas free for all commuters from midnight and will leave after 24 hours.”
Gurnam Singh Charuni, who was also the only farmer leader from Haryana in the past meetings, said,
“We want the government to withdraw these regulations and also introduce a law that will guarantee procurement for all 26 crops at a minimum support cost.”
More farmers are on their way to the Singhu and Tikri borders of Delhi to present an even stronger fight. One day gap has been taken in between the protests to open the toll passes for free. The protest will restart and intensify from December 14.
