Andhra farmers to get Rs 1,252 crore insurance claims for Kharif crops of 2019

Free crop insurance policy to aid the farmers in the state whose crops were destroyed

TAD NewsDesk, Andhra Pradesh: The government is set to pay the insurance claims of Kharif crops for 2019. Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will credit the amount to the accounts of the farmers. A total `1,252 crore insurance claims will be paid to 9.48 lakh farmers.

This YRF free crop insurance scheme was promised by Mr Reddy and it was brought into effect right after he became the Chief  Minister.

For various reasons in the last year the kharif crops were destroyed in the last year. As they were part of the free crop insurance scheme, their crop insurance claims are being settled. The right amount will be deposited to the accounts of the farmers.

The government has also sanctioned the insurance claims of Rabi crops which was pending for the year 2018-19. The amount was around 122.61 crore and has been kept hanging by the previous government. The Reddy led government has implemented and is on the way to release both the amounts amounting to a total of 596.26 crore paid to 5.94 lakh farmers.

Institute of Rural Management Anand-AP will set up Andhra Pradesh Centre for Advanced Research on Livestock Limited (APCARL) in Pulivendula. Plaque for setting up IRMA – AP will be unveiled on December 24.

Hence among the various initiatives by the government led by Mr Reddy, this is one of the most significant scheme which is benefitting the farmers.
