This page sets out how The Agrotech Daily reports, checks and corrects its work.
Business news, not agronomic advice
We write about the business, operation and policy of agriculture. We do not recommend products, doses, treatments or practices to farmers. Talk to a qualified adviser before you act on anything that affects a crop, an animal or a field.
Sourcing
Factual claims are taken from named primary sources: company announcements, regulatory filings, official statistics and on-the-record statements. Each article lists its sources. Where a detail comes from another publication, we say so.
Product and regulatory claims
Claims about pesticides, biologicals, fertilisers, seeds, genetically modified or gene-edited crops and animal health products are reported only from the regulator, the peer-reviewed paper or the company’s own filing, and are attributed. We state the approval status and the jurisdiction. A company’s claim about how well its product works is reported as the company’s claim.
Studies
We name the journal, the date, the size of the trial or sample and who funded it where that is stated, and we say whether a paper is a preprint or published.
Prices
We do not republish live market or share prices. We report official data releases with their date, such as minimum support prices and procurement figures, and link to the official page.
Announced plans
Investments, launches and targets are reported as announced plans, with the date they were stated. Figures can change.
Analysis
Where we draw a conclusion from the facts, we label it as our reading.
Images
Captions state whether an image is a photograph of the subject or a representative photograph.
Commercial content
Advertising and partner messages are labelled and kept separate from reporting. Paid links are marked as sponsored. Advertising for regulated products is checked by the editor before it runs. Directory listings do not buy coverage.
Company announcements
Companies can send announcements through the submit news page. An editor checks the sender and the original document before anything is published. Announcements we run are edited for length and style, labelled “Company announcement” and linked to the original. They are not our reporting, and publication cannot be bought.
Corrections
If we get something wrong, we correct the article and note the change. Report an error through the submit news page.
