The University of Agriculture, Faisalabad (UAF) is in Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. The university says its foundation stone was laid in 1906 as the Punjab Agricultural College and Research Institute, Lyallpur, which became the West Pakistan Agricultural University in 1961 and has carried its present name since 1973. It has nine faculties, constituent colleges at Toba Tek Singh, Burewala/Vehari and Depalpur, Okara, and an 880 ha main campus.
The Faculty of Agriculture, which UAF describes as its biggest faculty, comprises the Institute of Soil and Environmental Sciences, the Institute of Horticultural Sciences, five departments (Agronomy; Plant Breeding and Genetics; Entomology; Plant Pathology; Forestry and Range Management) and the Centre of Agricultural Biochemistry and Biotechnology. It lists departmental farms, the Postgraduate Agricultural Research Station and a Saline Agriculture Research Cell among its facilities, and runs a joint BSc (Hons) programme with Dalhousie University, Canada. UAF says the Special Technology Zone Authority notified it as Pakistan’s first AgriTech Park, with 200 acres earmarked.
