The Universidade de Vigo is a public university founded in 1990, with specialised campuses in Vigo, Ourense and Pontevedra in Galicia, north-west Spain. Carmen García Mateo is Rector.
Agriculture and forestry are taught on two campuses. The Facultade de Ciencias on the Ourense campus offers the Grao en Enxeñaría Agraria (agricultural engineering) alongside degrees in food science and technology and environmental sciences. The Escola de Enxeñaría Forestal in Pontevedra teaches the Grao en Enxeñaría Forestal and lists research lines including wood technology and industry, forestry machinery, forest holdings, cellulose and paper pulp, and hunting and fishing management.
Also on the Ourense campus, the Instituto de Agroecoloxía e Alimentación (IAA) works on soil health and quality, crop management, food quality and safety, and the management and valorisation of by-products. The institute says it aims to support a transition to more resilient, sustainable, safe and circular agri-food systems. Its 2025 indicators list 40 senior researchers, 22 postdoctoral researchers and 2.66 million euros in funds raised.
