A temporary rule lets irrigation licence holders in England fill storage reservoirs from 1 October instead of November. Eighteen East Anglian catchments and 43 salmon river catchments are excluded.
Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan asked every state and district to assess irrigation water before finalising rabi plans, and set a nationwide soil health drive for 22 October to 30 November.
