Namdhari Seeds breeds, produces and sells hybrid vegetable seed. The company says it was established in 1985 at Namdhari Farms in Bidadi, Karnataka, began contract seed production for American and Japanese companies in 1987 and later moved into breeding its own hybrids, including tomato and watermelon.
It lists sales locations in India and in countries including Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Egypt, Jordan and Turkey, and offers contract seed production using its own land bank, greenhouses and net houses. The company lists in-house laboratories for doubled haploid and tissue culture work, molecular biology, plant pathology and ISTA-accredited seed testing, and says its organic seed production is certified by Control Union and Ecocert.
