TAD NewsDesk, New Delhi: One of the farmer leader, Rakesh Tikait is going to travel to 5 states to gather support for the farmers’ protest. Thee news has come through Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) spokesperson.
According to an office bearer of BKU, one of the most familiar faces in the farmers’ protest, Rakesh Tikait was supposed to start the tour on March 1.
BKU media in-charge Dharmendra Malik said,
“Farmers’ meetings will be held in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Telangana, while two meetings will also be held in Uttar Pradesh in March.”
Mr Malik said,
“Two meetings will be held in Rajasthan and three in Madhya Pradesh. The last three meetings will be held on March 20, 21 and 22 in Karnataka.”
He added,
“One event is scheduled on March 6 in Telangana, but we have not got permission for it yet due to some election in the state. If permission is granted, the meeting in Telangana will be held as per schedule.”
The farmers have been protesting against the Centre farm laws and are having a sit-in protest in the borders of Delhi since November 25. Mr Tikait is leading the protest in Ghazipur. The government has still not agreed to the demands of the farmers asking for the repealing of the laws even after 11 round of talks.
The farmers are not backing off either and are planning to intensify the protest.
