TAD NewsDesk, New Delhi: The Pesticides Management Bill 2020 (PMB), was proposed in the Rajya Sabha during the budget session has proved to be a sterling opportunity for the government. Experts’ recommendations of the National Academy of Agricultural Sciences (NAAS) and the Trust for Advancement of Agricultural Sciences (TAAS) would be consolidated in the Bill by the government, following an extensive deliberation with the farming community and all the stakeholders.
The Pesticide Management Bill, 2020, is a delinquent law which has been in progress since 2008. The Bill will substitute the former Insecticides Act, 1968. Deeming advancements in the latest pest management sciences and the impacts of synthetic pesticides present in our food, nutrition, health, and environmental security, the Pesticide Management Bill is a step towards India’s pesticide sector obliging the global norms, with a sturdy Regulatory System.
