TAD NewsDesk, Mumbai: Mahindra group’s Swaraj Tractor said that it is going to launch a new line of tractors both in high and low horsepower. This is an attempt to support farmers in their puddling operations.
The company also started a series of paddy mechanisation in the states of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana as it seeks to enhance its presence further in the region, according to a statement issued on Tuesday.
Harish Chavan, Chief Executive Officer at Swaraj Division said,
“With paddy as a key crop of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, we at Swaraj want to further build on our incredibly strong brand in the region, through the introduction of a range of solutions for the paddy farmer.”
According to him, mechanisation will help the farmers develop and gain productivity and production in paddy.
Mr Chavan said,
“We will continue to launch products and solutions specifically developed for paddy farming in the region.”
The company will introduce new tractors in the higher hp range, including four-wheel drive tractors and lower hp tractors, to support small farmers in their puddling operations. Puddling is a key activity in the cultivation of rice.
People are shifting more to machine intensive line of farming as labour intensive methods are more time consuming and less profitable.
Tractor sales have doubled in the last five years and this initiative is a step forward to offer harvesting solutions from wet paddy to dry cereals to increase productivity and lower grain losses, for broad acre farms and small land holdings.
