TAD News Desk, New Delhi: A MoU has been signed between NDDB and newly formed union territory of Ladakh to promote dairying and rural livelihoods. A survey is planned to be conducted in the UT. The mountainous area residing public would be made self-reliant while NDDBs dairy potential survey would prepare a roadmap to boost dairying and enhance rural income.
Dilip Rath, NDDB Chairman expressed his happiness and extended his support over the UT administration’s plan to increase the dairy capacity and enhance rural livelihood in the interest of milk producers.
He further talked about the technical and managerial support provided by NDDB to promote producer-owned institutions that remain true to co-operative values.
NDDB would enumerate all households of the Ladakh region irrespective of their dairy holding position. Nominated coordinators in Leh and Kargil districts would be trained by NDDB. These nominated coordinators would recognize the village investigators who would be involved in supervising field work, monitoring and evaluation.
NDDB would tailor the roadmap of dairy production, after two months of training and monitoring evaluation in field work, and thus would decide according to climatic conditions, breed suitability, AI support and animal health, issues in the logistic chain, and marketing arrangements.
NDDB would share a detailed plan with UT administration after discussions with relevant stakeholders, and post discussion the finalized plan will be prepared.
