TAD NewsDesk, New Delhi: With rising awareness of gender equality in every arena, to ensure its sustainability in the agriculture and food industry, Alltech has taken an important step. It has launched a global survey to show its solidarity to the second annual Women in Food & Ag survey. The survey aims to collect information which will help create a more equitable environment.
Alltech is a U.S based company and works in the sector of animal nutrition and health; crop science; and, food and beverage.
Alltech believes in gender equality and its power to improve the agri-food industry. Moreover, it does not see gender quality as only an important fundamental right but also its consequentiality in the advancement of society along with the global agritech industry.
The 2019 Women in Food and Ag survey results showed a lot of obstacles faced by women in the industry and the different perceptions that men and women have towards the sector. In 2020 with Covid- 19, a lot of new problems have ushered in the sector and hence new questions have also been added to the survey. These questions will further help to study the attitude of both the genders towards these challenges and to know about the different impact they are facing.
To make this survey accessible in a truly global sense, the survey has been made available in six languages.
This step by Alltech highlights its commitment to the U.N Global Compact and the U.N Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) related to gender equality. The SDG focuses on gender equality as a primary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
Dr Mark Lyons, president and CEO of Alltech said,
“In order to achieve a Planet of PlentyTM, it is more important than ever for the agri-food industry to perform at its full potential. “Human ingenuity is our Earth’s most valuable resource, and a diverse workforce is essential to building a more sustainable future.”
Women and Men across the globe have been encouraged to contribute to this important discourse on gender equality in agriculture by taking this survey.
